How to submit an issue proposal to University of Bucharest Review

Instructions for Guest Editors

Generally, UBR publishes double or linked themed issues. Special issues are organized and edited by a a team of guest editors.

Potential guest editors should make an initial proposal (approx. 500 words) to the editors (UBRpublication@gmail.com) including a title, a thematic outline or draft Call for Articles, and a list of suggested authors. The proposal should make a case for the importance of the project, the intellectual landscape within which it fits, and describe the project’s genesis or prehistory if relevant.

In general, UBR works with potential guest editors at some length to prepare a Call for Articles (CFA) that formulates our shared understanding of the proposed issue’s theme. UBR formally accepts an issue only after the title and CFA have been agreed upon and the guest editors have been informed of this in an acceptance letter. Once an issue is accepted, the CFA is made available on the UBR website.

Once an issue has been accepted, the UBR team work closely with the guest editor(s), but it is the guest editor(s) who are responsible for all aspects of constituting and preparing the issue for publication in accordance with a detailed pre-arranged timeline. These responsibilities include recruiting and communicating with the issue’s authors (list to be agreed with the UBR editorial team), editing their submitted manuscripts, organizing the peer review process, obtaining all necessary publication rights, and preparing the complete manuscript for submission in strict accordance with the UBR formatting and style guidelines, as well as overseeing the correction of page proofs.
